The Junior League

Welcome to The Junior League of Wichita Falls website. As you explore the associated pages devoted to the work of our 360 members, we hope you will understand the adventures experienced through voluntarism and the impact our organization makes as we strive to build a better community. As our theme for the year states, Here We Grow.  The Junior League of Wichita Falls is truly a place to grow as a  woman, and as a volunteer.

Our membership devotes over 17,000 hours to our community on an annual basis, giving back an approximate $331,670 value in uncompensated trained volunteer hours. We also promote the volunteer spirit through our youth group, BRAVO and by our annual community-wide recognition, The Jefferson Awards for Public Service.

The Junior League is known for the experiential and formal leadership development training it provides to its members. This training is what sets the Junior League apart from other service-based organizations and is the key to helping women develop their potential both inside and outside League involvement.

The Junior League works directly with area nonprofit agencies to address important community needs. This year the Junior League will build on its legacy by providing financial assistance and volunteer hours to tackle issues involving hunger, childhood obesity and poor nutrition, the enhancement of student learning, goodwill and cultural exchange, and improving the quality of life for children with special needs and disabilities.

Although times have changed since our founding in 1957, our Mission and commitment to our community has not.  September 25, 2010 will mark forty-one years of service with The Association of Junior Leagues International, our governing body comprised of 294 Leagues throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Great Britain.

You, too can be a part of this talented and diverse group of women who value the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the world around them while developing their own leadership potential.  I encourage you to learn more about our organization and consider giving your time and volunteer efforts as a member of The Junior League of Wichita Falls.

The support of our members, generous sponsors, local nonprofit organizations, project partners, and caring friends allow us to be a preeminent and innovative organization serving as a catalyst to improve life in our community.  Thank you for your faithful assistance to uphold our Mission   Through the combined efforts of this powerful team, you are investing in the betterment of Wichita Falls.

We can look forward to a positive future and a better community with all our help. This year we have many milestones to look forward to.  FallsFest will be able to  give to this community it's twenty-fifth year of the best outdoor festival. Christmas Magic will have shoppers ready for the holidays, and the children will have visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads.  The League will put on Attic Affair again for twenty years at the end of April. We will continue to do Opportunity knocks, Kids in the Kitchen, International Friendships, and Power-Packs for kids. We will help to make Miracle League grow so we can impact more children in our area. I am truly honored to serve as President, and I am excited about the 2010-2011 year and the work we will be able to accomplish together. Thank you for all you that each of you do to make this organization such a  great success.

Warm regards,

Kathy Partridge
